New Salem Primitive Baptist Church - "The church that loves God and loves God's people"
New Salem Primitive Baptist Church News Letter         1st  Quarter 2012

 From the Pastor

Greetings brother and sisters of Christ, I pray that your New Year is blessed and highly favored.
2011 was a challenge and a blessing for us at New Salem. God has done wonderful things for us, in us, and through us. In addition to the pleasure of serving this magnificent church in the role of under-shepherd, I have also been tasked to serve as the 2nd Vice-Moderator of our historic East Florida District Association. The selection was both a surprise and an honor. I intend to do my best to remain in the will of God and to allow Him to use me as He sees fit.
The biggest and best things that are transpiring at New Salem are in the spirit realm.  God continues to elevate us and bring us new soldiers to help spread the Good News. We also were blessed to be able to continue many ministries including our Crawford/Harper Scholarship Fund to support our members that are college students, our Pay-For-Grade ministries for our students, and our Community Appreciation Day. This year we had a tremendous Community Appreciation Day where we not only gave away clothes and food but also, stereos, bikes, and Winn Dixie gift certificates. We also continued our support of the We Care Program and provided 12 families with over 50lbs of food @ Christmas. We were also blessed to be able to purchase an acre of land across the street from the church that will provide additional parking and possibly the future home of a new sanctuary in the future.
We also were blessed to see two of our members graduate from high school this year (Sister Ashley Bradshaw and Sister Michelle Able) as well as three members who graduated from college with their BS degrees (Sister Ashley Peterson, Sister Neitra White, and Brother Chris lemon, Sr.). We are very proud of each them and wish them God's blessings as they continue their education and begin and/or further their careers.
We have been expanding our studies by teaching from 'The Kingdom Agenda:What A Way To Live by Pastor Tony Evans, in our Sunday School classes. Our study has been spiritually riveting and the growth in the students is very evident. In addition God is blessing us with miracle after miracle. The praise reports the last couple of months have been outstanding! God continues to make a way out of no way!
The Lord blessed us to make big strides in preparing to begin building the annex that has been so long desired. We are now preparing to re-do the inside ceiling and the walls inside of the sanctuary in year two of our plan to re-furbish the entire sanctuary.
Please come and share your time and talents with us as we celebrate the goodness of the Lord and work toward His Kingdom Agenda!

New Salem Quarterly Events

Traditionally the last quarter of the year is by far our busiest and 2010 was no exception!
In October we traveled to Orlando to fellowship with our sister church New Hope Primitive Baptist Church for Elder Wilbert Jefferson's Pastor's  Anniversary. We always have a grand time fellowshipping with New Hope and this year seemed to even top the previous years. It is an honor for us to be included in the celebration of such a great man of God. The following Sunday we journeyed across the street to another sister church, Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church to help them celebrate there 67th Church Anniversary.  The month concluded with Elder Haynes being elected as the 2nd Vice-Moderator at the East Florida District Association Annual Conference.  God really anointed the entire convention.
In November, Elder Haynes celebrated his 4th Pastor's Anniversary at New Salem. Every service was high in The Spirit. The services began with the purple and cream (trustees and laymen) team on second Sunday. The evening service was highlighted by the singing of gospel recording artist  Monique Spivey of Orlando, Fl.
and the preaching of Elder Douglas Haynes of Bible Way Church of God in Christ,Oak Hill Fl. The Choir and Ushers serving were all cousins of Elder Haynes. The following week was led by the blue and silver (Deacons, youth, and ushers) team.In the morning service the Word of God was delivered by Minister Mitchell Moore of Mt. Zion  Primitive Baptist Church,  Eustis Fl. That evening's celebration was led by Elder Eugene Johnson and the congregation of St. Annis Primitive Baptist Church, Deland Fl. The celebration was concluded under the directions of  the black and gold (mothers and choir) team. The Word was brought to us by Elder C.C. Clark of Zion Orthodox Primitive Baptist Church, Cocoa Fl. Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church, New Smyrna Beach; the pastor's home church, closed out the celebration.
In December, we finished the year by supporting the We Care ministry and providing 12 local families with over 50lbs of food for the Christmas holiday. The youth put on an outstanding Christmas pageant and we finished the year where we started it.....in church!
