Elder C.J. Haynes was born to James and Rhonda Haynes on April 29,1972 in New Smyrna Beach, Fl. He was educated in the Volusia County School system, graduating from New Smyrna Beach High school in 1990 where he earned 10 varsity athletic letters, was the president of the African-American Student Union, Homecoming King, Student Government President, and member of the Hall of Fame.

Elder Haynes was baptized at the age of 10 in Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in New Smyrna. He served faithfully for years as the president of the youth department and on the youth usher board. At the age of 12 he was elected as the Sunday school Superintendent and served in that capacity until he went off to college. At the age of 14 he became the adult Sunday school teacher.

Elder Haynes entered the The Citadel in August of 1990 on a football scholarship and graduated from that institution in May 1994 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting; and in December 1995 with a Masters in Business Administration.

In October 1997, Elder Haynes married his best friend and school mate, the former Beatrice Denise Clark. To their union, God has blessed the Haynes' with three beautiful children: Jasmine Novella, Jaela Symone, and James Edward, III.

In August of 1991, at the age of 19, during a youth revival, Elder Haynes accepted the call to preach The Good News and was licensed to preach the unadulterated gospel by his pastor, Elder Adewali Adewumi and the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church family. Haynes spent the next number of years serving under Elder Adewumi. He also sat under the leadership of Elder Major Lewis in Ocala, Fl. before moving to Jacksonville and serving under Dr. Morris J. Halyard. He later joined the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Fl. and sat under the leadership of Elder Lee Harris, serving as the church's youth pastor.

In July 2007 after serving the church for 90 days as a licensed minister, Haynes was called by the New Salem Primitive Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, Inc. to become their pastor. Haynes was examined and ordained as an Elder of the Primitive Baptist church at the annual association meeting of the East Florida District Association in October of that year. As pastor, Elder Haynes has worked hard to help each individual member establish a firm spiritual foundation; strengthen each individuals personal commitment to God and to God's people; develop a loving and giving church environment; and to gather God's "lost sheep".

Elder Haynes currently serves as the 1st Vice Moderator, the Chairman of the Executive Committee, the Chairman of the Presbytery, the Chairman of the Audit Committee, and as a member of the Save the Temple Committee of the East Florida District Association. He is also the co-founder and CFO of Brother-To-Brother, Inc. He has a great dedication to positively affecting his surrounding community and improving the lives of others.
